The tour guides are really nice and laid back. It's not ridiculously strenuous but it does take a good amount of stamina. It depends if you want to take more time to do sightseeing or to just ride as fast as you can. "You don't have to be crazy to do it, but it helps if you are" - your guide.
However you do it you won't regret it! A very easy ride for anyone who can pedal a bicycle!
This was one of the highlights of our mountain vacation. The weather was on the cool side as started our bike ride at the top of the trail which made for perfect riding. Most of us only rode the first half and it was a beautiful and easy ride. Plenty of places to stop and take in the water falls, bridges, old country store. I would suggest parking in Damascus and paying someone to drop you at the top so you can take your time on the trail. We were slightly pressed for time since we parked in Abingdon and had to meet up at a specified time for our ride back there.
Biking this trail was one of the highlights of our trip! We went the middle of October and the leaves were just starting to change. Perfect for families! Even with younger children. It’s about 17 miles from where we started back down to Damascus. The stops along the way were a great break for the kids and also had some awesome history. I was in awe of the beauty the entire time.
Great way to see the fall colors changing! We caught a shuttle to the top so it's an easy downhill 17 miles.
We have made many trips to the Creeper Trail and fall is our favorite time to visit. You need to call ahead and make reservations to rent a bike and our pick is the Bike Station. You can bring your own bike and they'll drive you up the mountain for less. My husband and I enjoy it alone or with a group of friends.
